Laudrup anounces departure from Getafe 16/05/2008 00:00

The Danish coach says he has finished with Getafe without giving more explanations or details.

16 May 2008

MADRID - Michael Laudrup announced on Friday afternoon that he would not be continuing as coach of Spanish Liga club Getafe.

The Danish coach told the media that his "cycle" at Getafe "has finished", without giving more explanations or details.

Laudrup took over at Getafe in July 2007, after Bernd Schuster had departed for Real Madrid.

He took Getafe to the final of the King's Cup - a 3-1 defeat against Valencia - and to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup.

Getafe are currently 12th in La Liga, having escaped from the relegation dogfight two weeks ago.
